CSESoc Media Team 2023

The UNSW CSESoc Media Team is a collaborative, student-run and student-led initiative. We're committed to producing high quality media content for those studying Computer Science and Engineering, as well as the wider University community. This includes but is not limited to our podcast Echo, articles, and videos. Through this, the Media team aims to publish content that gets the community talking, as well as record and capture what being apart of CSESoc is like in the present day.

Yo I’m Lesley, a second year compsci/arts student and one of the media directors! 🤠 If I’m not watching tv shows/movies I’m probably overanalysing them, picking up another hobby to add to my infinity gauntlet of interests or making extremely specific spotify playlists. Heya! I'm Sam and I am a second year student studying Software Engineering. I was born in Auckland, New Zealand, and as a Media Director I am eager to further explore my creativity in producing funny and entertaining videos for everyone. In my spare time, I find myself going down the YouTube rabbit hole, or playing the cello - that I left back home ;( - and listening to music!

Cassie Eliot

Hiya, I'm Cassie, a 2nd year Comp Sci / Media Arts student! My interests don't seem very cohesive; linguistics, visual effects, even COMP1521 (the best course). What ties these things together is that each time you engage with them, you learn something new, joining the dots to what you already know. Every second spent means moving forward, keeping the momentum going and the serotonin flowing. I hope that as part of this year's media team, I can provide some morsels of knowledge for you!

All day I dream about becoming a content creator for CSEsoc 😴🛌💤😫and hopefully be able to edit like Ryan Trahan all day 🥰😍😍😻💘. I spend all day in the trenches so one day I make it out 🔥💯🗣️🦅🦅🦅.

hello! i'm chris, a first year maths and physics student (and compsci too i guess 🤩). in my free time you'll probably find me writing short stories/poetry, starting books and never finishing them, watching youtube on 2x speed, or stalking my high school classmates on instagram 🫣 . my addictions include: bubble tea, tiktok, taylor swift, kpop, calling different parts of my life "eras", taking photos of food before i eat it, and rewatching sitcoms. i look forward to creating some exciting new content with the media team this year! 🎬

Hiii I'm Angelina, I'm a first year compsci/fine arts student and I like playing badminton, reading and making Instagram edits of my favourite tv shows in my spare time :)) But one of my favourite pastimes is starting projects and never finishing them, so maybe being a part of media will actually let these ideas come to fruition !!

Hello friends, I'm gloria, a first-year advsci/software eng. Fun fact: I often go through a period of caffeine detox at the start of term so you will often catch me drinking all kinds of teas (still need a bit of caffeine in the system). I'm a huge sleeper, I can sleep anywhere, anytime, anyplace. I am trying to build a healthy sleep schedule, but on my days off, I would sleep at midnight and rise at 10, eat then lay back down in bed and sleep at 2 until dinner is ready, and on days where I would have uni/work/other, I would basically be sleeping whenever I have time to, and that's me, super excited to be in media 2023!

Hello! I'm a proud Kiwi, born and raised in beautiful New Zealand. I've got a thing for badminton - I played it for around 3-4 years and really enjoyed it. It helped me become sharper, quicker, and more strategic. When it comes to music, I'm a big fan of all kinds. You'll catch me listening to everything from jazz to K-Pop, J-Pop, and rock. I just love how each type of music makes me feel and think about different things. I'm also a big traveller. I've been to cool places like Japan, America, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. Each place has its own unique charm, and I love discovering new cultures and landscapes. Next on my list is Europe - I can't wait to get there someday! I enjoy spending time watching anime. I love the imaginative stories, the fantastic artwork, and getting to know all the characters. It's like stepping into another world. So, that's me. I'm always ready to learn something new, see a new place, or dive into a new adventure. Life's a journey and I can't wait to see where it takes me next.

Hi I'm Jet and I'm a first year compsci/arts student. I'd say I'm a pretty competitive person so I like playing a lot of different sports but especially basketball. Outside of that, I also enjoy writing, playing the piano and having meaningful chats with mates. Am extremely keen to create some entertaining content this year !! 😐👍

Michael Zheng

Hello, I'm Michael, a first year comp sci/aerospace engineering student who is a complete fan of airplanes, travel, animation and theme parks. I love anything to do with travel, from travel planning, to flying, and exploring new places in the world. One day, my goal is to visit all the Disney theme parks in the world (I've done HK and Tokyo Disneylands, next on my bucket list is Disneyland California). Also, in my spare time I love planespotting and flight simulation, I guess that's one of the ways my two degrees work together.
